Agusan del Sur
Agusan del Sur is CARAGA region’s biggest province. This landlocked province is inhabited by the indigenous groups of Manobo, Higaonon, Aeta, Mamanwa, and Bagobo.

Agusan marsh is considered as one of the ecological significant wetland ecosystem in the philippines. The area harbours is unique and pristine wetland habitats like swamp forest, open water, scrub swamp, flowing water, and inundated forest.A fast rising attraction in the province is Bunawan Eco-Park which houses the largest crocodile in captivity: Lolong.
Agusan del Sur is also bursting with waterfalls. Some are still hidden in the confines of dense rainforest and remain blissfully undiscovered. The two-tiered Tugonan Waterfalls gushes into enchanting emerald waters. Try resisting from diving into it!
The name derived from the word Tugon meaning "a promise", Tugonan waterfalls is situated in Barangay San Lorenzo of Prosperidad.

The astonishing Bega Falls is tucked in the heart of
the wilderness, and is frequented by local adventurers. To get here,
you need to trek along forest-shaded back roads. The placid Gibong River opens into Binaba Waterfalls which flows from natural springs.

The Gibong River is a stretch of water with a view of unharmed
vegetation in its banks. The river is the only gateway to Binaba Falls.
It is also the source of water supply irrigating some 60 square
kilometres (23 sq mi) of rice fields of three municipalities in the
province.

Another pride of the province is the colossal Agusan Toog Tree. This ancient tree is regarded as the world’s third largest tree and is beautifully lighted at night.
But perhaps the most prized asset aside from its natural attractions is the Golden Tara (a figure of a deity) which was found by a Manobo woman in the Wawa River in Esperanza. A replica is now housed in he Butuan National Museum.
A good getaway destination will not be complete without mouthwatering delicacies and dishes. So here are some most sought-after food in the province of Agusan del sur: Caraga-region.
Adobong Sahang
Sahang is a sea snail which is abundant in the bodies of water of surigao. It is then cooked adobo style with bell pepper.
Sayongyong
This famous Agusan delicacy is kakanin wrapped in banana leaves with the color and consistency of a puto or rice cake. Its made up of glutinous rice , brown sugar , calamanci juice , rousted peanut and coconut milk. Sayongyong comes out wrapped in banana leaves. Some of people say it taste like "puto" but with coconut milk.
Palagsing
Palagsing is another version of the suman that is made from the starch of sago palm mixed with coconut and brown sugar. This is usually eating along with hot chocolate or coffee.
Dried Pijanga
Also known as "white goby" , this first class dried fish comes from lake mainit in surigao this delicacy has a special story because its produced from the efforts of rural agrarian reform community of surigao.
Kinilaw
Kinilaw is a common dish for many provinces. This local delicacy is made in raw fish and its does not involve any form of cooking. To prepare this native cruisine, the people in agusan debone and wash the raw fishes and conbine it with the numbers of condiments. The perfect mix of ginger , vinegar , onions , chilli peppers , and salt make this delicacy a haven on your taste buds.
Poot poot Ginamos
This delicacy is unfamilliar to tourist or even in Filipinos coming from manila. Poot poot ginamos is a unique and tasty treat from agusan . flavorful delicacy is made of small fishes locally known as poot poot . This type of fish can only be found in Philippine shores. This fish specialty comes with fermented fish sauce which is very cheap , making it even more popular to tourists.
